The men of Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery pose for
a photo opportunity at Ernst Von Frankenburg's farm. He is the owner
of the four original bronze guns pictured here. They are two 12 pound
Napoleons, a 6 pound howitzer, and a 6 pound Eagle. For the first
seven years of the Battery B's existence, we relied on the use of two of
these guns. These pictures were taken on May 26, 1996. Photo courtesy

On July 19-21, 1996, the Battery traveled to Hastings, MI for a re-enactment.
Private Vince Smith ran when the Confederate troops got too close, and
three men from the Battery turned and shot him down. The regulars
have no sympathy for cowards! Captain Eric Peterson stands over the
dead body. Photo courtesy of Eric Peterson.
