Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery in camp at the Old Wade
House State Historical Site in Greenbush, WI on September 22-24, 2000.
It had rained steadily for the previous three days before the re-enactment,
and continued to pour all day Friday and Saturday morning. Consequently,
the ground turned to mud, and most of the guns sunk in a foot or two.
While the soldiers joked about the weather, it reminded many of the mud
march that the 1st Corp took in early 1863 near Fredericksburg,
VA. Left to right are: Sergeant Rich Grzyb, Privates Dave Van Rooy
and Ted Gardner (hidden behind Dave), Corporal Tom Smith, and Privates
Joe Van Rooy (behind Tom) and Brant Doty. Photo courtesy of the Old Wade
