Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery
Philosophy Statement
Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery, Inc. exists to honor the courage and sacrifice of the original Battery B (1861-1865). Our goal is to educate the general public on the Civil War and specifically on the role of the Union artillery. By becoming a member of Battery B, you accept this responsibility. To faithfully portray a Union soldier of the Army of the Potomac requires commitment; your fellow members have made this commitment.
It is expected that all our members will work to enhance the reputation of the Battery. This means that at all times our uniforms, equipment, drills, campsite, and personal demeanor will be in the best traditions of the Army of the Potomac. The regulations, bylaws, officers, and non-commissioned officers of the Battery are there to help you achieve this aim. Adherence to Battery policy and orders is expected.
Reenacting is a rewarding and enjoyable pursuit. In order to enhance this experience, all members of the Battery must be willing to contribute their time and energy to making the Battery a success. We are all members of a distinguished battery. We owe it to ourselves and the "old regulars" to do it right.
