As if you couldn't tell, my favorite hobby is Civil War re-enacting. I am a member of two units: Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery and Company E, 64th Illinois Volunteer Infantry "1st Battalion, Yates Sharp Shooters".

Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery at the Escanaba Reenactment on July 14-16, 2000.

That's me on the far right (the First Sergeant).

This is the official site for Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery, Inc. Please note that this other site is not authorized by the Iron Brigade Association, the Black Hat Battalion, the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association, or Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery, Inc. Researchers, beware! Ms. Carlene M. Wojahn is not a re-enactor and has published false information on her site before...do not believe anything on her site unless you can verify it elsewhere! I don't mean to be rude or mean, but simply speak the truth. Finally, these words are my own opinion of her site, should be taken as such, and do not reflect the opinion of the Iron Brigade Association, the Black Hat Battalion, the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association, or Battery B, 4th U.S. Light Artillery, Inc.

One of the main reasons that I reenact is because I have a few relatives who, I believe, served in the Civil War. I am still researching them at this time, so hopefully I'll know real soon. I have a Dan Carpenter, a Joseph Carpenter, and a John Reichel in my family tree, so the possible soldiers are:

Here is an article about the 5th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry.

"The best generals are those who have served in the artillery."
- Napoleon

The First Human Cannonball.
Some people say this is me on the gun line.
There might be some small resemblance.
